Cinema passionate from childhood, after graduating in history at the University of Barcelona begins a lucky career in the world of advertising, even without forgetting the original passion: in the first half of the 1980s he regularly collaborates with Sal Común and Fotogramas magazines, In 1983 he has created his first script, for Morbus film of Ignasi P. Ferré, and the following year he writes and directs his first short film, Mira y verás.
In 1989 she directed her first feature film, "Too old to die young", who is the candidacy to the Goya prizes as best debut director, but from which she took distances retrospectively. Only several years later, in 1996, she realizes her second work, "The things I never told you", turned into English with an international cast, which is worth a new candidacy to the Goya prizes, this time for the best original script. In 1998 she realizes in Los Que Aman, set in the XVIII century Spain, and in 2000 she founded her own production company, Miss Wasabi Films.
She reaches international success with her next film, my life without me (2003), Hispanic-Canadian co-production to which the El Deseo of Pedro Almodóvar also participates, presented in competition at the Berlin Festival, winner of two Goya prizes ( Best non-original screenplay and best song) and candidate for the European Film Awards for best film and best director.
In 2005 she realizes "The secret life of the words", presented out of competition in the Horizons section at the Venice Film Festival, which receives the consecration at home with four Goya prizes, including those for best films and best director.
In 2008, with the invitation of the actress Penélope Cruz, she directs "Love lessons", based on the novel "The dying animal" of Philip Roth, played by Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz. For the first time she takes care of a movie for which she doesn't write the script. In 2009 she has in competition at Cannes film festival "Map of the Sounds of Tokyo", played by Rinko Kikuchi and Sergi López.

Italian actress Cecilia Dazzi (The Family, I Am Emma, Scusa ma ti chiamo amore) will be part of the jury for the Oltre il Limite Aquila Reale d’Oro Official Selection at the brand-new In Movie Fest, whose first edition will unfold in Pescara, Termoli and Macerata between 24 August and 2 September this year.
